yourself and for the students.

at the end of the term.
Five personalities make a good teacher
1) Will – Determined to teach and bring a change
in student's lives.
2) Intelligence about the subject –Has in-depth
knowledge about the subject.
3) Friendly & Sympathetic – at times being considerate.
4) Open-mindness – Open to alternative
possibilities.
5) Sense of humour – Not always in a strict
mood and talks 'normally'.
Three main qualities of teachers
1) Attentiveness – teachers attend and are
punctual, they give attention and focus on students – not on phone etc.
2) Receptiveness – Motivated, willingness and
interest.
3) Appropriation – learning outcome are
appropriate for student knowledge. They feel they can reach the target.
Relationship with students:
Teacher should have acceptance of authority. This can be achieved by:
A. Creating a tone of
purposefulness during the lesson while keeping them motivated. (Disciplinary
should not be used to gain authority)
B. Effective and structured
teaching will bring authority. Keeping them occupied with meaningful tasks.
Status of the teacher:

Teaching competence will bring authority. This
comes by having;
A. Subject knowledge
B. Enthusiasm for subject
C. Effective learning
experience
Excising control over classroom will come by;
A. Being present before
students arrive, quickly establish order, end of lesson remarks should be
positive.
B. Classroom rules should
be laid out with clarity.
C. Mutual respect between
teacher and student.
Build their trust in you. This can be done by;
A. Caring for pupils’
progress.
B. Respecting them for
learners.
C. Respecting them as
individuals.
Conclusion: Mutual respect & support with
student with lead to a good relationship. Also remember the three Fs, Firm,
Friendly and Fair.
